Easter Season 2007
Wednesday, February 21, 2007
Ash Wednesday begins the Easter season. To prepare
ourselves for this holy season, we observe a day of prayer
and fasting. All the details of how and to what extent
are up to you. Spend the time you would eat in prayer.
The day culminates with Prayer Meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 1, 2007
Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem
to begin the week leading up to His death and resurrection. The
people put Him on a donkey, laid their coats on the road, and
waved palm branches to worship Him as God and King. Join
us at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry.
Friday, April 6, 2007
Good Friday is the day we celebrate and mourn the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He laid down His life to
atone for our sins, just as God promised 600 years earlier
through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53, "He was bruised for
our iniquities, by His stripes we are healed." Join us at
7:00 p.m. for a time to remember, mourn, contemplate, and celebrate
the death of Jesus for us.
Saturday, April 7, 2007
During these hours in which we commemorate Jesus dead and laid in the tomb,
we take time to meditate on His death and resurrection. Why did He have to die? How is it that our God died? Use this meditation guide
and spend time by yourself of with family in devotion.
Sunday, April 8, 2007
Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus rising from the
dead. He was killed on the cross two days earlier on
Good Friday. Now we celebrate His resurrection.
God demonstrates His immense power through this act just as
He promised 1000 years earlier through David who wrote in
Psalm 16 "You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo
decay." Join us at 6:15 a.m. in Wyoming Park for a
Sunrise Celebration along with other churches in the area.
Join us at 11:00 a.m. at church for our Easter Worship
Service and communion.
