Easter Season 2008
2008 Easter Flyer
Sunday, March 16, 2008
Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem
to begin the week leading up to His death and resurrection. The
people put Him on a donkey, laid their coats on the road, and
waved palm branches to worship Him as God and King. Join
us at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry.
Thursday, March 20, 2008
The Thursday before Easter, we celebrate the Last Supper
in which Jesus initiated the New Covenant. The whole
event is part of the Jewish ceremony of Passover in which
they remember when God led them out of slavery in Egypt
through His servant Moses. Join us at
7:00 p.m. for a time to remember the New Covenant in
His blood.
Friday, March 21, 2008
Good Friday is the day we celebrate and mourn the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He laid down His life to
atone for our sins, just as God promised 600 years earlier
through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53, "He was bruised for
our iniquities, by His stripes we are healed." Join us at
7:00 p.m. for a time to remember, mourn, contemplate, and celebrate
the death of Jesus for us.
Saturday, March 22, 2008
During these hours in which we commemorate Jesus dead and laid in the tomb,
we take time to meditate on His death and resurrection. Why did He have to die? How is it that our God died? Use this meditation guide
and spend time by yourself of with family in devotion.
Also, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. we
will have a community Easter Egg Hunt in the backyeard.
Eggs will be hidden with various degree of difficulty so
children young and old can enjoy. In addition to eggs
and candy the Easter story will be told using an
interactive hands on approach. Bring a basket and make
this one of your Easter hops this year!
Sunday, March 23, 2008
Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus rising from the
dead. He was killed on the cross two days earlier on
Good Friday. Now we celebrate His resurrection.
God demonstrates His immense power through this act just as
He promised 1000 years earlier through David who wrote in
Psalm 16 "You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo
decay." Join us at 6:30 a.m. in Wyoming Park for a
Sunrise Celebration along with other churches in the area.
Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. and
classes of all ages learn about the resurrection of our
Savior Jesus as we weave faith into life.
Join us at 11:00 a.m. at church for our
Easter Worship Service and celebrate the risen Savior in
joyous praise.
