Impacting Our World

- Sermons - Vision

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on July 25, 2010 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Vision series.

If I say “9-1-1” what comes to your mind? Emergency! Some situation needs immediate attend of police, fire fighters or EMT’s. Emergency rooms are specifically designed to respond to medical emergency. Dr.'s and hospitals are also designed to help in medical treatment hopefully before the situation rises to the level of being an emergency situation. On July 10 the elders and deacons of Camden met to discussion what we believed was God's vision for this church. Who are what we should be to one another and to the community around us. The statement that we drafted and approved at our elders meeting the following week was this:

The Bible Fellowship Church of Camden will seek to be a spiritual hospital. We will provide a safe environment for spiritual healing and growth. We will encourage and train individuals to provide spiritual care for themselves and to others.

Isaiah 42:1-9

42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen, in whom my soul delights;
I have put my Spirit upon him;
he will bring forth justice to the nations.
He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,
or make it heard in the street;
a bruised reed he will not break,
and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;
he will faithfully bring forth justice.
He will not grow faint or be discouraged
till he has established justice in the earth;
and the coastlands wait for his law.

Thus says God, the Lord,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people on it
and spirit to those who walk in it:
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations,
to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.
I am the Lord; that is my name;
my glory I give to no other,
nor my praise to carved idols.
Behold, the former things have come to pass,
and new things I now declare;
before they spring forth
I tell you of them.” (ESV)

  1. Sandra Workman says:

    Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

  2. Donna Coverdale says:

    God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
