Who Is This God?

- Sermons - Big 10

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on August 8, 2010 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Big 10 series.

Did you ever play the game “King of the Mountain?”

Young children love the game, "King of the Mountain". It is an exciting game of seeking to reach the top of a pile of dirt (or something similar) by pushing other people down along the way. Though all effort is made to become the King, the glory is usually short-lived; everyone wants to be King!

Unfortunately, this game often continues through life. In sports, in school, and then later on the job, the goal is often to reach the top and the strategy is to push others down. This is, however, the way of the world, not the way of God.

But who is really “number one”? Why does God state that He must be number one.

  1. Sandra Workman says:

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

  2. Donna Coverdale says:

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
