Being A Friend

- Sermons - Friends

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on November 7, 2010 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Friends series.

I believe the man is born with a gene that makes it impossible to locate something that is directly in front of him. At least that is what I have. Failing to see the obvious can create a problem if we are looking to find friends.

If you were looking for a friend where would you look? How can you attract and make friends? Sometimes when we are looking for a friend, we forget that this means we need to be friendly. We run right paste individuals who could be good friends to get to a place where are options for locating "good friends." Our Savior calls Judas the traitor friend. (Matthew 26:49-50) Matt 26:50 And Jesus said to him(Judas), "Friend, do what you have come for." NASU

Would we call someone like Judas a friend? If we knew what kind of person Judas was we would most like avoid him, instead of reaching out to him.

To have a friend you need to be a friend.

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
