Testing the Ropes

- Sermons - Rotten Apples

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on June 5, 2011 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Rotten Apples series.

Every person who is about to make a climb needs to make certain that the rope is secure. It is true, you aren't going to the manufacture and examine their process for making the rope, neither are you going to take a section into a laboratory to see if the quality is good. What you are going to do is make sure that everything you have done is secure. Peter is calling the believer to a similar action.

2 Peter 1:10-11 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

  1. Sandra Workman says:

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

  2. Donna Coverdale says:

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
