Preached at the Sunday Morning service on July 17, 2011 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Rotten Apples series.

Bricklaying is a very interesting task. You start a job with 1,000's of brick stacked up in a pile and you end the job with them stack up in a row. But, if you want to be successful at bricklaying there is a specific way in which you must stack them. You can't just put them on top of one another, there is a sequence of overlapping and interlocking that must happen if the wall is really going to be strong. Peter is coming to the conclusion of this second letter and he will challenge these believers to take the instruction that have been provided and just like bricklaying, place them together piece by piece in the correct format. He charges them to be alert to the disrupted patterns layout by false teachers.

2 Peter 3:11-18 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
