Faith Says Your Plans, Not Mine

- Sermons - Hero

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on November 9, 2008 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Hero series.

Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, had a conversation with the Father. He considered bailing out of the mission... the greatest mission of all time... the mission to set mankind free from their sin. He was to go to the cross and literally take all our sin as if it were His own and pay the punishment of our sin. His conversation went like this... Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. But not My plan, but Yours be done. Ultimately, His faith in the mission and His faith in the Father led Him to give up His own self-interest to obey the plan of God. Do we have that kind of faith?

  1. Sandra Workman says:

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
