The Truth Does Penetrate

- Sermons - Gospel of Mark

Preached at the Sunday Morning service on March 4, 2012 by Pastor Ray Bertolet.
Part of the Gospel of Mark series.

Truth is a powerful tool. A police officer that knows the truth can arrest a criminal. A parent taking with a child, knowing the truth, can teach them the errors of their ways. On the opposite side, those individuals living a lie are burden with the guilt of their actions. They know when the information isn’t true and it brings an ache to their heart. There is a story of the IRS receive a letter with a large check inside. The letter stated that many years ago they had cheated on their taxes. Now, they were having guilty feeling which created trouble sleeping. This was the reason for the anonymous check. However, if they still couldn’t sleep, they would send the balance.

Jesus states in John 8:31-32 that the truth will set us free. However, that truth must be rightly applied to our lives.

John 8:31-32 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Pastor Ray – Harry and I just listened to your message. Again, very soul searching and thought provoking. I think of the Scripture passage that says “Examine yourself and see if your in the faith”. This is a daily walk – keep on being filled with the Spirit – confessing sin and renewing right fellowship with the Lord. Good exhortation! Blessings, H&S

God wants us to Himself, with no idols before Him. This message helps us to realize how easy it is to become distracted from the things of the Lord in our daily lives.
